Crocein Orange G
Orange G has also been shown to react with potassium dichromate and form a yellow product. Crocein orange G is also known as Acid Orange 12; 1-Phenylazo-2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid sodium salt and Ponceau 4 GB. Crocein orange G is a common natural dye, which is soluble in water and widely used in coloring medicines, cosmetics, and foods. It can be used as a coloring agent for pastry, ice paste, food, etc. Crocein Orange G is a water-soluble, orange fluorescent dye that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to form stable complexes with fatty acids and other organic compounds.
These complexes are more readily removed by adsorption. Crocein Orange G is occasionally used as a biological stain in certain applications. It can be employed to stain specific cellular structures or components in microscopy, cytology, or histology. Like many acid dyes, Crocein Orange G can act as a pH indicator. It exhibits different colors at different pH levels, typically transitioning from orange in acidic conditions to yellowish-orange in alkaline conditions.
Crocein Orange G can be used in various printing processes, such as offset printing, to achieve an orange coloration. Crocein Orange G is widely used in the textile industry as a dye for natural and synthetic fibers. It imparts a bright and vibrant orange shade to fabrics and is particularly popular for dyeing cotton, wool, and silk.
